Sailesh Bolisetti to guest drive in Polo Cup India round

Vizag (Andhra Pradesh): Indian touring car driver Sailesh Bolisetti will return to one of the early scenes of his triumphs as a guest driver at round three of the 2012 Volkswagen Polo-R Cup India scheduled on 25-26 August at the Madras Motor Race Track.

Bolisetti, who currently drives for Team Lotus in the British GT championship, won the fiercely competitive inaugural edition of the Polo Cup in 2010. This weekend, he will go up against the current grid of 20 drivers fighting for this year's title in the new Polo TSI cars introduced this year.

Having confirmed his participation earlier this week, Sailesh is looking forward to racing in India for the first time since he raised that trophy nearly 20 months ago.

"I attended one of the rounds as a spectator earlier this year, and although a lot has changed since I last raced in India - a new car and so on, the competition is still tough.

After winning the Polo Cup in 2010, Sailesh was awarded a fully-paid drive in VW Scirocco-R Cup in Germany for the 2011 season. This year, he graduated to sportscar racing, driving a Lotus Evora in the British GT championship and claimed his debut international win at Nurburgring earlier in May.

Despite his relatively high experience in quicker machinery, Sailesh concedes that it isn't going to be all guns blazing from the word go.

"I am planning to progressively build up momentum through the weekend. Although I know the circuit well, it has been almost two years since I have experienced those bumps and rough kerbs", he chuckles.

"Although I hear it is in much better shape now, we'll find out about that in a couple of days!", he signs off.
